Initiative 01

Mindfulness in
Nature Programs

Mindful of Nature partners with a network of teachers and like-minded organizations to offer a variety of nature-based programs that can be adapted to the needs of the populations and organizations we serve. These nature-based mindfulness programs can vary from as short as a one-hour class, to a half day, full day or multi-day programs. We survey the participants of these short-form programs to contribute to our growing body of evidence-based research that shows the positive impact of being in nature with mindfulness.

Initiative 02

MoN Collaborative Network

The MoN Collaborative Network is a supportive, inclusive community for nature-based mindfulness teachers and mission-aligned practitioners to connect, learn, and grow together. Designed primarily to support teachers in deepening their craft and feeling less isolated in their work, the network also warmly welcomes researchers, advocates, healthcare practitioners, and anyone actively contributing to the broader Mindful of Nature mission.

Whatever your role — if you share our values and commitment to bringing nature-based mindfulness to the communities that need it most — there is a place for you here. Through peer dialogue, collaborative learning, shared resources, and meaningful connections with leaders across the field, network members grow in confidence, expand their reach, and strengthen their capacity to do work that truly matters.

Initiative 03

Mindfulness Based
Nature Connection (MBNC™)

One of our central programs is a 6-module mindfulness in nature program that systematically trains people to develop a rich and enduring connection to the natural world through a variety of accessible and engaging meditations and techniques. Typically offered over six sessions in a 2-hour outdoor format, participants learn methods that allow them to connect with their environment in intimate and profound ways.

One of the fruits of this course is supporting people to care for and respond to current ecological challenges. This course is offered to anyone, but we endeavor to offer it freely to people in the helping professions — including school teachers, health care providers, first responders, youth leaders (ages 18+), seniors, and business and organizational leaders.

Initiative 04

Science-Driven Research

Beyond the programs we offer in partnership with like-minded organizations, we are developing a robust research study on the Mindfulness-Based Nature Connection (MBNC™) 6-Module Program to measure its benefits for health, mental health, wellbeing, stress reduction, and increasing environmental care and responsibility — in partnership with researchers at UCSF and other higher-education institutions.

We hope this work will also contribute to our growing body of evidence-based research that shows the positive impact of being in nature with mindfulness. We are actively seeking funding for this research project.
